My Long family was living in Milam County in 1896 when my dad was born. His name was Virgil Homer Long, born March 16,1896, died Catoosa County, GA, May 5, 1976. His parents were William Robert and Sarah Spiers Long. William Robert Long was born July 1855 in Mobile, AL. Sarah Van Spiers was born in Williamson County, 1861. William Robert and Sarah Spiers had 14 children, 11 lived to adults. They owned property in Milam County. They owned the property where there is a Davilla, TX, Museum. When they owned the property it was two-story.

William Robert Long's parents were John J. Long born in Bavaria, Germany, 1828 and Anna M. Kiefer born in Bavaria, Germany, 1828. John J. Long died in 1883, 55 years old and is buried in Taylor City Cemetary, Williamson County, TX. They had 4 children: George W., Annie, William R., and Mary Long. His wife Anna M. Kiefer Long was living with her son in the 1900 census for Lampasas County, TX. She was listed as a capitalist. Her sister Mary A. Kiefer McClure was living there also and was listed as a grocer. Mary A. Kiefer married William A. McClure in Mobile, AL, 1857 and had 4 children. The children were Mary born 1858, Allison born 1861, Barbara born 1863 and Daniel McClure born 1866. All were born in AL.
