Raking the Leaves

One of the the jobs Mom and I had to learn when we moved was to rake the leaves. It's the down side of having 200 trees in the yard, but we have fun. Mom rakes the leaves and puts them in a trailer that Grandpa built. When the trailer is full, we haul it down to the woods with the 4- wheeler and Mom rakes all the leaves out of the trailer.

But then comes the fun part. Mom always lets me get in the trailer for the ride back to the house. I'm a lazy boy, so the run to the woods is a lot of work. The first time we took the leaves out, I told Mom to just leave me there. I needed a nap before the long walk back to the house.

Mom laughed at me and took the back wall off the trailer and told me to kennel. It didn't look like a kennel, and it was real wobbly, and it smelled like leaves. I didn't want to get in but Mom was being polite, so I did. What a great ride! I stood up the whole way back to the house, and I could see over the side of the trailer, and the wind blew in my face, and I didn't have to run.

Riding home!

Now I help Mom rake the leaves all the time. She lets me ride back to the house in the trailer and I really like it.
