George Stinson Bushong, age 42, born 14 Nov 1875, farms for S P Anderson in Marrowbone. His nearest relative is H C Bushong, also of Marrowbone, Cumberland County. He is short with a medium build, gray eyes and black hair. He has a "bad eye". [H C can only be his 6 year old son, Harrison,] | BUSHONG, George Stinson (I21410)

George was only 2 1/2 when his mother died and he was raised by her parents. He eventually married his cousin, Addie Jane.
I'm guessing that Annice Pearl is actually their [illegitimate?] granddaughter but it's possible that she's a cousin. | TOPLIFF, George (I11361)

George's letter says that Henri and Rosina were married in 1841. I found a marriage record in Mobile for Henry and Rosanna McGonigal on June 3, 1844 and believe this to be our ancestors. I can't imagine why they had no children for so long unless the babies died. | Family: Henri RICKERT / Rosina MCGONIGAL (F1482)

gina,
william henry mellen was the son of grenville mellen, who was in turn a son of william pepperrell mellen, who came south from dover, nh as don correctly states. grenville, born mar 6 1843, married very young (he was very tall for his age), had two children, volunteered in the confederate army, and was killed at the battle of seven pines in 1862. grenville had two sons, so william henry had a brother named grenville. i believe this brother grenville is the grenville who lived on the mississippi gulf coast.
