HINTON, Iowa -- Geraldine Cecelia "Gerri" Pridie, 95, of Hinton died Thursday, Aug. 14, 2003, at a Sioux City nursing home.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ellendale, Iowa, with the Rev. Mark Stoll officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Sioux City. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a vigil service at 8 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City.
Mrs. Pridie was born March 1, 1908, in Sioux City, the daughter of Robert and Marie (Ericksen) Carraher. She attended St. Boniface, Cathedral and Central High School.
She married Charles E. Pridie on Jan. 2, 1926, in Sioux City. The couple farmed in Plymouth County until 1956 when they moved to an acreage near Hinton. Mr. Pridie died Oct. 30, 1975, in Hinton.
Mrs. Pridie was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ellendale, the Altar Society and St. Theresa Circle. She loved gardening and church activities, especially pie making and creating hundreds of quilts for Birthright. She also made rosaries for the missions. She enjoyed making crafts for her family.
Survivors include five children, Charles Pridie and his wife, Betty, and Tim Pridie, all of Hinton, Robert Pridie and his wife, Marlene of Akron, Iowa, Frances Peterson, and Carol Idso and her husband, Marlin, all of Sioux City; a daughter-in-law, Marjorie Pridie of Omaha, Neb.; a son-in-law John Bliss of Tulia, Texas; a brother, Willard Carraher of Allentown, Pa.; 29 grandchildren; 76 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Bliss; a son, Gerald Pridie; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a son-in-law, Robert Peterson; and five brothers and seven sisters.
Pallbearers will be Ron Pridie, Jerry Peterson, Robert Pridie, Chad Idso, Troy Pridie, Matt Bliss and Scott Pridie.
