4360 It was Lawrence who conceived and ordered the Removal of the Acadians in 1755. He led the Council which governed Nova Scotia to its decision to pass, on July 28, 1755, the following resolution in respect to the French residents of Nova Scotia, the Acadians:
"After mature consideration
it was unanimously agreed, that,
to prevent as much as possible
their attempting to return and
molest the settlers that may be set
down on their lands, it would
be most proper to send them
to be distributed amongst the
several colonies on the
continent, and that a
sufficient number of vessels
should be hired with all
possible expedition for that
purpose."2

4362 It's hard to pinpoint Lydia's age. The 1820 census lists a female between 16 and 25 [1795-1804], the 1830 has a female 20-29 [1801-1810] and the 1840 has one 40-49 [1791-1800]. I have to assume that the last one is either incorrect or is someone else. Using the first two, we see that Lydia could be born from 1801-1804. Since there is no one in the household in 1840 in this age range and the younger children are thought to be niece and nephews, it's probable that Lydia died between 1834 when Robert was born and 1837 when the next baby would have been expected.
There is a big question about whether all these children belong to Russell and to which wife they were born. Sidney is 10 on the 1850 census, making Mary only 13 when he was born. I'm pretty sure that, if he is a child of Russell, he is also a child of Lydia. Malissa is 7 on the 1850, making Mary 16 when she was born, it's possible that she is Mary's child but I believe she is Lydia's, who probably died giving birth to her or to the next child. Stephen is 3 on the 1850 census, meaning Mary was 20 when he was born. I have no proof but believe that, if he is a child of Russell, he is also a child of Mary, and she married Russell about 1846.
However, there is reason to believe that Robert, Sidney, Malissa and Stephen are the children of Bryant, Russell's brother.
SULLIVAN, Lydia (I10724)

4363 It's possible that Gover's wife, Jane is Caleb's sister, Jennie. CORNELISON, Grover Cleveland (I11987)

4366 It's possible that her name was Martha. ??? (I5578)

4367 It's possible that John had brothers, Moses and Pleasant and sister Hannah who married William Kelly in Georgia. WALKER, John (I5577)

4368 It's possible that this is the Calvin and Lucy living in Lawrence County in 1910. MAHURIN, Calvin M (I22677)

4369 It's possible that this is the Ewing who married Susie Settle in 1896 but she isn't with him on the 1900 census which lists him as single. DRAUGHON, William Ewing (I11135)

4370 It's possible that this Shannon child is a son of Joseph C Shannon. Joseph died in 1836 and was married to his 3rd wife, Malinda V Strother. I don't believe he is Vesta's child, she died before 1832 but it's odd that his name is Criner. Might he be a grandchild of Joseph? Malinda remarried to widower Barna Beardsley. CRINER, Sarah (I16026)

4371 It's possible that Vollie Olden is a bad transcription of Lollie Jordan. OLDEN, Vollie F (I20092)

4394 Jacob Allen Harlan, age 40, b. 13 Sep 1877, is a self-employed farmer in Summer Shade. His nearest relative is Rhoda Susan Harlan, also of Summer Shade. He is of medium height and build with brown eyes and dark hair. HARLAN, Jacob Allen (I21450)

4395 Jacob Bull The short sketch which here appears is that of a prominent farmer of Dallas Township. He owes his nativity to Virginia, born in 1810, the third in a family of eleven children born to the union of William Bull and Ann Turner, the former a native of North Carolina and the latter of Virginia. His grandfather, on both sides, Martin Turner and Jacob Bull, were soldiers in the Revolutionary War. In 1818, when our subject was eight years of age, his parents moved to Caswell County, North Carolina, and in 1834 came to Alabama. Here, in 1835, the father died, and four years after he was followed by his wife. Our subject was reared and schooled in Caswell County, North Carolina, attending the common schools of that State. In 1831 he went to Alabama and remained there until 1850, when he came to Arkansas and settled in what is now Calhoun County, on the place where he now resides. He purchased 320 acres, slightly improved, and to this he has added until he now owns 405 acres, 300 acres of which he has cleared. In 1851 he erected the first store-house in Hampton for O.H.P.Black and in 1858 he was appointed as one of the commissioners to build the courthouse. January 9, 1840, he was married to Miss Eliza H. Means, a native of Tennessee. She died July 4, 1852, leaving five children: Rufus H. (died in 1862), William (died in 1881), Edward (married and resided in Texarkana), Isabella (married and living in Texas), and two died in infancy. In 1852 Mr. Bull was again united in marriage, this time to Miss Masaniah Wood of Bradley County. She died in 1862 and left three children: Evanna E., Carter and Jacob A.. Mr. Bull remained single until 1867, when he was married to Miss Fannie Barfield, by whom he has four children, viz: Sallie (died in 1873, at the age of five years), Harriet, Jennie and Mary. Mr. and Mrs. Bull are worthy members of the Presbyterian Church, while most of the children belong to the Methodist Episcopal Church, South. Mr. Bull is a member of the Masonic fraternity. BULL, Jacob A (I12393)

4396 JAKE MINZE
October 2, 1911-November 12, 2005
GROESBECK-The early hours of Saturday, Nov. 12, 2005, marked the entry of Jake John Charles Minze to God's green pastures. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 13 at Groesbeck Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Hogan Cemetery.
Born Oct. 2, 1911 in the Froza Community to Fannie and John Coleman Minze, Jake was reared by his grandparents, John and Rebecca Ann Sparks. He grew up in the farming and ranching trade around Groesbeck. He was lifelong rancher and horeseman in Limestone County.
Jake married Ava Wilson on July 4, 1931, who was his faithful partner for 70 years. Together they worked to establish his reputation as one of the leading quarter horse breeders and production cattle raisers in Central Texas. He held ranching positions throughout the area, including D Bar (Dollins) Ranch of Hwy 84, West of Mexia. He retired to his personal "section" at Shiloh. Jake remained an active member of AQHA and SW Cattle Raisers until he was 93. He enjoyed fox hunting, roping, baseball and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his wife; sister, Desa Faye Holloway; and grandsons, Scott and Bryan Neal Higgins.
Survivors include his daughter, who he was devoted to, Noma Nell (Mrs. Jimmy Thomas); grandchildren, Scott and Dawn Higgins(Mrs. Will Turk); great-grandchildren, Meredith and Claire Higgins and Wyatt and Clayton Turk. He was a stranger to none and a fun and loving brother, uncle, cousin and friend to countless others.
Memorials may be made to the ALS Foundation or Hogan Cemetery c/o Herbert Wilson, 2211 FM 937, Groesbeck, TX 76642.

There is nothing to prove the middle name of James B Wills. My grandmother told me it was Buchanan so I have always included it.

I've created a map to show the approximate location of his original tract which encompasses most of Holland. Copy and paste the following into a browser.
