Newspaper article:
Mrs. Saluda Wills
This is Mrs. Saluda Wills of Killeen who was recently honored with a birthday dinner by her children and other relatives. Mrs. Wills is 90 years of age. At the dinner were two of her brothers, Quinley Cross, 72, and V. A. Cross, 80, both of Brownwood.
Mrs. Wills came from Mississippi to Texas at the age of 10 and married W. A. Wills at Holland when she was only 15. Her husband died about 20 years ago. She has lived in Bell County 80 years. Her surviving children are: Oliver, Jim, John and Verge Wills, the latter two of Killeen. Mrs. John C. Cox of Killeen and Mrs. Jones Miller of Ozona are daughters.
Mrs. Wills is very active for her age. A favorite recreation is to do art work, fancy embroidering, etc., which she presents to her children as keepsakes.
Mrs. Wills draws a Mexican War pension, of which ____ ____ ___ only two others in Texas are entitled to. | CROSS, Saluda Elizabeth (I3690)

Noel's death certificate says his mother was Mary Elizabeth Wilson. Mary's death certificate says her father's name was Wilkerson. Nettie's death certificate simply says Mollie. I didn't find anything that says Pollock. It's possible that she was previously married. There is a C Wilkerson in Bienville Parish in 1870 who has a daughter named Mary E, born circa 1854, AL.
At the end of 1922, she claimed to be 75, making her born in '47 unless she was anticipating her next birthday, making it '48. On census records, she is 29, 51, 62, 72 and 82. Her death certificate gives 1859 but I believe 1848 is probably correct. | WILKERSON, Mary Elizabeth (I2840)
