Robert Grove dies last Wednesday
Funeral service was held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the Peet Chapel in Lusk for Robert Grove, 71, who died at the Niobrara Memorial Hospital February 12 after a long illness.
The Rev. Frank Bozart officiated with Mark Lohr, soloist, singing "When the Roll is Called up Yonder" and "Crossing the Bar." Organist was Mrs. Judson P. Watson.
Honorary pallbearers were Dick Heine, Mick Coen, Bernard Thon, Judson P. Watson, Dick Lee, Don Barnes, Richard Schnorenberg, Charles Christian, Vic Centers and Jake Davies.
Following the service the body was taken to Boulder, Colo. for cremation.
Robert Keith Grove was born May 3, 1903, at South Whitley, Ind., to Laurtes Grove and Ethel Burwell Grove. He was one of seven children.
His family moved to Wyoming in 1911 with the original Jireh Christian movement and homesteaded in the Jireh community. In 1919 the family moved to Scottsbluff where Bob graduated from High School.
He married Nancy Louise Noke January 12, 1929, in Alliance. Two daughters Barbara and Catherine were born. His wife, Nancy died in February 1940. He married Linnie Virginia Robinson December 24, 1941 and they had two children Maxine and Thomas.
Mr. Grove worked for International Harvester in Albuquerque, N. M., until he moved his family to Wyoming in 1946. He began ranching in the Keeline community on property which included the original homestead. It was while living in the Keeline area that Mr. Grove became a member of the school board, and when Niobrara County voted in June 1949 to become a single school district, he was one of the representatives from the original 12 district boards to be chosen on the first county board, and during the first year of reorganization performed an important service for the county.
The Grove family moved to Lusk in 1955 after selling the ranch and Mr. Grove established himself in the automotive business. For the past few years he has been semi retired.
Survivors include his wife Linnie of the family home; three daughters Mrs. John (Barbara) Pellegren, Littleton, Colo., Mrs. Richard (Cathy) James, south of Lusk, Mrs. Joe (Maxine) Riley, Colorado Springs, Colo.; one son Thomas of Casper; ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild; two sisters Mrs. Mary Shike, Long Beach, Calif., and Mrs. Ray (Fern) Benfer of Hemet, Calif.; one brother Kenneth, Albuquerque, N. M.
His parents, a brother Adam and two sisters Mrs. Hester Richardson and Mrs. Maxine Olsen died previously.
Coffee was served at the Grove residence for relatives and friends following the service. | GROVE, Robert Keith (I23718)
