So it would appear that Samuel Sr married two women named Eliza. I don't have a surname for the first wife (Eliza ?). Her children are Mary E, Elisha F, Charles Joseph, Nancy J and Samuel R. Then Samuel Sr married Eliza Jane Driskell Gibbons (Eliza D). Her Sterling children are William T, Grace T, George W, M Abraham, Mary Ann and Tempie B. That's a total of 11 children for Samuel Sr and he raised Eliza D's three Gibbons children. There is also the question of John, age 1, on the 1870 census. Is this John Gibbons, age 9? Is he a twin to Grace or a foster child? We don't see him again. I believe it's John Wiley Gibbons with an incorrect age.
There is a marriage in 1840, Platte County,Missouri, to Mahaly Conwell, Sam was only 15 in 1840 so I don't believe it's our Sam. If this | STERLING, Samuel Wiley (I6087)

--- CHARLES C. DISNEY, a prominent contractor and builder at Johnson City, was born in Anderson County, Tennessee, November 3, 1851, and is a son of Judge Elias and Tabitha (Lovely) Disney, also natives of Tennessee. In 1856 the family moved to Missouri and located in Gasconade County, where they resided about two years, coming thence to St. Clair County in the spring of 1859. Elias Disney has since been elected and served as county Judge. He was also a lieutenant of a militia company during the late war. Charles C. was the third child of a family of three sons and one daughter. He spent his youth on a farm and received a good education in the English branches, and after completing his studies he engaged in teaching in the public schools, and now ranks as one of the best instructors in the county. He has taught the last three years in Johnson City. He has also learned the carpenter's trade, and when not occupied in teaching follows the business of contractor and builder. He has worked at this during the summer seasons for the last four years. Mr. Disney was married December 22, 1872, to Miss Macy Herndon, of Ozark County, Missouri, and a daughter of Henry W. and Martha A. C. Herndon. They have four children: Walter Eugene, Estella Rose, Elva Eveline and Edgar E. They lost one child, Minnie Belle, who died in February, 1879. | DISNEY, Charles Clark (I12248)
