- Mrs. Mary Seel, Former County Resident Dies
Mary Elizabeth Seel, Otis, Colorado, mother of Mrs. Ann Carleton, Waseca, died at 11 p. m. Tuesday, September 8, after a short illness. Funeral services were held at Akron, Colo., on Friday, Sept. 11, and burial was at Woodville cemetery in Waseca on Monday.
Mary Elizabeth McGhee was born July 5, 1875 at Yale, Iowa, the daughter of Meredith and Mary Ann McGhee. On August 25, 1894, she married George Tanner and they spent a large part of their married life in Waseca county. Mr. Tanner passed away June 20, 1928, and in 1935, she moved to Otis, Colorado, where she remained until her death.
Surviving are two sons, Jesse Tanner, Calumet, Minn.; Lloyd Tanner, residence unknown; one daughter, Ann May Carleton, Waseca; six grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and two brothers, Bert McGhee, Los Angeles, Calif., and Virgil McGhee, Chicago, Ill.
