CASTROVILLE, Texas ? Roy Joseph Mellen, of Castroville, Texas passed away on July 6, 1998, in Castroville. Roy was born April 5, 1905, at Batson, Texas. In Galveston, Roy was a past, president of the American Red Cross, a member of the Tri 5 Club, The Beach Patrol, associated with the Mellen School of Dancing. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Doris Fox Mellen; sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald Roy and Nancy Mellen and Randle Lynn and Susie Mellen; daughter and son-in-law, Lu Ann and Dan Dennis Hartnett; nine grandchildren, five greatgrandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. Roy was a fun and loving husband and father who is missed already. In lieu of flowers, notes of sympathy are appreciated. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 9, 1998, at 10 a.m. at Lake of Wood Chapel at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston.
