  VAN BUREN, ARKANSAS - David L. Schmidt, 72, of Van Buren, Arkansas, passed away Monday, June 17, 2002, in a local hospital. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War, a member of the Crockett Place United Methodist Church in Galveston, Texas, and a retired computer technician. He was a former employee of Ft. Smith Southwest Times, The Tucson Newspaper and the Galveston Daily News. Visitation will be from 8:00 a.m. until service time at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 20, 2002, James Crowder funeral Home Chapel in La Marque, Texas, with burial in Galveston Memorial Park, Hitchcock, Texas. Survivors are his wife, Virginia of Van Buren; daughters, Donna of La Porte, Texas, and Jennifer Bernard of Phoenix, Arizona; sisters, Bertha of La Marque, Texas, and Jessie of Texas City, Texas brother, F.F. Schmidt, Jr. of Texas City; 6 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be friends.
