- There are many genealogies on the Internet that claim Rowland died in Wilkes, Alabama, or Wilkes County, Alabama. There is no Wilkes County and the town is in Jefferson County. I can't find any records for him in Jefferson County. Another, smaller set of genealogies places his death in Walker County, Alabama.
