  Obituary
  Garrett Colby, a lifelong resident in this vicinity, died at his home yesterday morning at 10:45 o'clock of pleuro-pneumonia. Mr Colby was employed as night fireman at the Scott Greenhouses and was ill when he went home from his work Monday morning, growing gradually worse until the end came. Mr Colby was born in the town of Darien on the Colby road, about two miles southeast of Corfu on March 2, 1858. On July 24, 1884 he was married to Clara Senn of Pembroke, who survives him. Other survivors are four children. Garrett R. Colby of Mentor, Clara of Buffalo and Gladys and Robert who live at home: four brothers and two sisters. Henry of Batavia, Mrs John Taft and Joseph Colby of South Auburn, Neb, Alexander of Darien, Frank of Mentor, Mrs Caroline Van De Vort of Corfu. Mr Colby was a member of the Corfu Methodist Protestant Church and of the Corfu I.O.O.F. lodge.

  - Monday Evening, January 5, 1914, CORFU. MANY AT GARRETT COLBY'S FUNERAL -The funeral of Garrett Colby, held from the M. E. church yesterday afternoon, was very largely attended. The Rev. Edgar E. Robinson officiated. Mrs. F. A. Palmer, Mrs. William Hume, Dr. Bates and C. W. Carrier sang "I Belong to the King" (a favorite of the deceased), "Face to Face" and "Jesus Savior Pilot Me." W. H. Norton, E. T. Sumner, R. A. Kinne, L. W. Ireland, O. A. Stanley and George Peters acted as bearers. Among the many beautiful floral offerings were pieces from the Corfu Odd Fellows, the Rebekahs, the Corfu band, ladies of the M. E. church, employees at the Scott greenhouses, Eastern Star of Batavia, Eastern Star of Mentor, O., nurses of Buffalo state hospital and nurses of the Batavia hospital. Out-of-town people present were Frank Colby and Mr. and Mrs. Garrett R. Colby of Mentor, O.; Henry Colby, Mr. and Mrs. Henry C. Senn and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Francis of Batavia; Mr. and Mrs. John Senn and son, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Tubbs and three children and Mr. and Mrs. George Tamlin of Buffalo and Mr. and Mrs. Emile Gesse and two daughters of Alden. The Odd Fellows attended in a body and conducted part of the service at the church.
