Mary Ann Newton, 76 a lifelong resident of Texas City went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 2, 2006 at Mainland Medical Center. Mary Ann was born December 19, 1929 in Texas City to James A. and Catherine Beall. Mary Ann was a former member of the Fraternal Order of Eagle.
Mary Ann is preceded in death by her parents, husband of 53 years Edward Wayne Newton who was the love of her life and brother Harvey Gene Thompson. Mary Ann is survived by two daughters Cynthia Ann Soliz and husband Ray of Texas City and Paula Elaine Ortiz of Kingwood; sisters Dorothy Pruitt of Santa Fe and Marjorie Combs and husband John of Spicewood, Texas; brother Floyd Thompson and wife Bridgette of Hawaii; seven grandchildren Monica and Glen Ware, David and Lillian Sheridan, Selena and Gabriel Zepeda, Keith and Sheila Ortiz, Stacie Jensen, Courtney and Lucas Liggett and Melissa Soliz; eight great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation for family and friends will be Monday, February 6, 2006 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the James Crowder Funeral Home in La Marque. Graveside service will be Tuesday, February 7, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Galveston Memorial Park in Hitchcock with Imelda Carillo officiating.
Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
